Hi everyone! My name is Cheslie Brewington and I am a sophomore at Appalachian State University. Recently, I have been given the opportunity to attend a mission trip to Haiti. This trip will take place during my spring break, which will be from March 3rd to March 10th. I will be going with Filter of Hope, which is a group on a mission to bring clean water to all people. Their facilities in the United States are in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. During the trip, my group will be distributing water filters to local Haitian families. We will show them how to use them, how to clean them, and also share with them the message of the living water. In the area that I will be going to, the locals get their water from rivers full of bacteria and animal feces. According to the World Health Organization, a child will die every 20 seconds due to drinking contaminated water. This is a brutal reality for children in this area. During the distributing process, we will spend around 30 minutes with each family sharing the gospel. Like the water, we are all dirty because of the sin in our lives. We are unable to make ourselves clean. Just as the water needs a filter to clean it, we need Christ to cleanse us of our sin. Just as the water is clean after running through the filter, we are wiped clean of our sins once we accept Christ into our lives. I cannot wait to share this message with the Haitians! To attend, the total cost of the mission is $2000. The money is due in full on February 1st. If you would like to know more about the trip, I would love to talk to you more!
