Hey! Thank you so much for checking out my Mission Minder page! This summer I have an awesome opportunity to serve the Kingdom of God and I need your support! Let me tell you more about it.
As you may already know, I am currently a student at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. This year has been quite busy between balancing work and school, but God has seriously done some huge things in my life throughout the craziness. About six months ago, I found myself fervently asking the Lord to open the door to a church where I could not only get involved by volunteering, but also where I could find a community of people to simply do life with. In August, God answered that prayer and brought me to a church in Matthews NC, called Mercy Church. The Mercy Church family has played an instrumental role in furthering my walk with the Lord by demonstrating what Jesus meant in Matthew 28:19 when he commissioned us to “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…”
One of the ways that Mercy Church is sending college students on mission for Jesus is through a program that I will be participating in this summer, called City Project. City Project is an eight-week summer project designed for college students to learn how to be disciples of Christ who make disciples. We will spend two months being immersed in the local church and cities around the world. Starting the summer, we will be spending a week in New York City engaging Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs, and Buddhists with the gospel. The middle of the summer consists of five weeks in Greensboro where we’ll receive theological and ministry training from the pastors of Mercy Hill Church (the church that planted Mercy Church). During this time, students learn to effectively share the gospel and serve the city of Greensboro through internships with local ministries or with members of the Mercy Hill Staff. The last two weeks of the summer, I will go overseas to a foreign country to serve with other college students and Mercy Hill church planters. This is an excellent opportunity to engage full-time with the mission of God and better understand what it means to leverage my entire life for the gospel of Jesus Christ.
As for where I will be going internationally: I will be a part of a team going to Peru. The primary goal of this mission trip is to expose the Yanesha community to the Gospel through a method called Bible storying, which is about sharing stories from the Bible in a way that will be understandable to an oral culture. These stories provide a platform and foundation for explaining the Gospel. We hope not only to be able to share the Gospel with these individuals in this way, but also to help teach them to share it with others so that Jesus Christ may be glorified among the nations.
I am asking you to consider being my partner in this great challenge. If at all possible, even a small contribution to assist with the $4,800 cost would be greatly appreciated. Any help you are able to give will yield eternal results in the lives we impact! The biggest part of my support is due by May 22, 2017. I am praying for each and every single one of you and I thank you for even considering to partner with me in the mission of God!
Please join me in praying for my teammates and I as we prepare, both financially and spiritually, for the coming summer. Through the power of prayer, Jesus performed mighty miracles with the simplest of tools. 2 Corinthians 4:7 says, “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves.” Pray that God would use this earthen vessel to make the greatness of God’s power clear to everyone I encounter on this trip. Also, pray for safety in our travels and our interactions with the people we meet. I appreciate your support and prayer for this mission trip!
With gratitude,
Brett Bouldin
