Hi everyone! My name is Sarah Spivey and I am a student at UNCG. I'm studying American Sign Language with my major being Professions in Deafness: Interpreting.

This summer, I have an opportunity to take part in a summer long hands-on theological practicum, called City Life, through Mercy Hill Church. City Life is one of Mercy Hill’s summer projects for college students, and is geared toward equipping college students to make disciples and see where they fit into the mission of God.

As Christians, we believe that everyone who believes in Jesus is called to play a part in His mission locally, nationally, and internationally. We also believe that the Gospel spreads the fastest and farthest by faithful everyday Christians in everyday vocations as they go about their daily lives. City Life will equip me to take part in God’s plan for the nations through my everyday vocation. I will learn how my work matters to God and how I can leverage my passions and skills in my career for the mission of God. City Life students work a summer long internship, attend a weekly community group, attend weekend forums, and travel to Washington, D.C. for a week to learn about integrating faith and work. During this summer, I will be continuing to advocate and serve for the Greensboro Pregnancy Care Center, as well as cashier, expanding on my interpersonal skills and language foundation of ASL. I will be working with students in similar life areas, learning and growing alongside them.

I’m excited about learning more about God and His mission this summer, and I would love for you to partner with me. There are three big ways you can support me as I get ready for the summer. First, you can be praying for me. The reality is, unless God moves in my heart and in the hearts of others, it really doesn’t matter what we do. Pray that God would move in my heart, that I would grow during the summer, and that He would save people we come into contact with this summer. Secondly, I ask for your financial partnership this summer. I would greatly appreciate it if you were able to support me in this way. Additionally, I also could use your partnership in being an advocate for me. If you know anyone who may be interested in partnering with me in any way, please let me know.
